After a lot of planing Re time slots and availability I finally attended my first Caring with Confidence presentation 'Finding your way'. I had a great time, met new people and as a result will be attending the next session/subject in a weeks time. I have to admit I didn't learn a lot today but I have had the advantage of prodding and poking the NHS/PCT when things have not been right for some time so I have some idea of who to approach when the wheel falls off but there were carers at today session whom had had no help from the medical professionals (GP's etc) at all, so to help by imparting info was great. Some had not heard of PALS!
For those of you who do not know about Caring with Confidence, find out more - links are on this site, and those of you who are undecided, TRY IT, tea, coffee and posh biscuits and your travel expenses are paid if you so wish.
I will update further after the next session.
Bye for now,
David
Hi David
I am very glad you had a great time on the session and that you are going to go on more. I will make sure that there are PALS leaflets at the sessions from now on.

Session 2 (Caring & Communicating) yesterday (Friday 23rd) a good morning meeting like minded people who already seem like friends. The facilitators are great, I won't forget the 'Tea' sketch for a while -very funny. I leant new tips about how to communicate and was given a brilliant info leaflet about Care Assessments. If only I had had this knowledge before my Care assessment earlier this year!
The Salvation Army is an excellent location for this type of course and their own Care Coordinator (Glen) seems to be really on the case. There is even a gentle keep fit session for those who wish to avail themselves after the course.
